Show Notes

Accenture is racing to close its fiscal year with a full-court press: employees are asked to delay August vacations and help land every possible deal before August 31, all to hit a Q4 revenue target of $17.75–$18.4 billion. This comes after a soft Q3, with bookings down and revenue guidance trailing Wall Street expectations, putting pressure on both staff and pricing as the company weighs short-term wins against long-term profit health.

But here’s the catch: more staff online in August means more capacity to deliver work, not more demand. The danger is rushing to close deals with discounts or weaker terms, which could come back to bite in the form of slower payments and less-profitable contracts. At the same time, Accenture is spending nearly $900 million to pivot around AI, boasting 104 mega-deals this year and rolling out AI tools and partnerships at scale. The upside is stickier, subscription-based business, but the risk is traditional consulting hours—and profit margins—getting squeezed as clients demand more for less.

Adding another layer, a governance scare tied to an offshore data breach puts Accenture’s global delivery model under scrutiny. If tighter data controls become the norm, compliance costs go up—but so might Accenture’s value as a trusted partner. Featuring insights from TIKR, Trefis, Forrester, and Fortune.
