Spectrum Flattens Org, Signals Pricing Shakeup

Show Notes
Spectrum’s new COO Nick Jeffery is wasting no time shaking things up. Six weeks in, he’s flattened the org chart, ousted two top execs, and hinted at big changes to pricing and packaging—especially in ex-Cox markets that now wear the Spectrum brand. The goal: jumpstart Internet growth and fix customer service after a massive $34.5 billion merger with Cox. But the stakes are high. With cost savings targeted at over $1 billion, the risk is that cutting too fast or tweaking offers could spike customer churn, especially as legal scrutiny on cancellation flows intensifies.
But here’s the catch: Spectrum is resisting the industry’s race to the bottom. While rivals AT&T and Comcast flirt with $35–$40 gigabit deals, Spectrum hasn’t lowered prices, instead betting on bundles—offering mobile, faster Wi-Fi, and video gear like Xumo to add value without slashing sticker prices. That’s a bold move, but it means the bundle has to deliver or Spectrum risks losing ground, especially in markets where fiber is cheaper and switching is easy. Add in some recent outage reports and all eyes are on whether Spectrum can steer through organizational upheaval and legal challenges without blowing up customer loyalty.
Based on reporting from TheWrap, Light Reading, Telecompaper, and real-time outage trackers like Downdetector and StatusGator.
