Maruti Suzuki Hikes Prices Again

Maruti Suzuki just hiked prices for the third time this year, with another up-to-₹30,000 bump across models coming in August 2026. Even though Maruti’s selling more cars than ever—over 6.8 lakh units last quarter—profits are under pressure, falling 11% year-on-year as costs surge thanks to global conflicts and currency swings. The company says these hikes are about protecting margins, but after two price increases in two months, the big question is whether price-sensitive buyers will bolt, or if SUVs and CNG models will keep the momentum going.

But here’s the catch: as sticker prices climb, the new Brezza facelift launches with a lower entry price—₹7.40 lakh—thanks to a strategic tax move. Maruti’s juggling three powertrains, two tax brackets, and a wider variant spread to anchor shoppers with value and then upsell to pricier models. Safety is the new calling card, with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and six airbags standard, even as rivals tout advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Meanwhile, Maruti’s betting big on capacity, firing up a new Gujarat plant to push total output toward 2.9 million cars a year, and positioning for export growth if domestic demand softens.
